a new flower

I made a new flower to go with my dress for church on sunday using this tutorial. I used the extra button that came with the dress in the center. I don't know if I would do the blue and white again (probably just all blue) but I was not going to redo it. :)

Do you like how in the background of this there is a diet pepsi and my scriptures? Nothin' but the important stuff thats for sure!

*that diet pepsi is SO Nathan's! I am trying so hard to stay away from that stuff!

Finale Cake

Woohoo! I'm done with course 3! (one more course to go and then I"m done!) I decided to get totally wild and do this:

Can I just say that I love it? It was SO fun and way better than the stuffy wedding cake they wanted us to do. I love my teacher. She lets us do what we want!

Confession...I didn't do the dots all the way around. I got tired and lazy. I COMPLETELY understand why people charge so much for these custom cakes. It took a LOT of time and work! But I love doing it. Love it! The bottom cake is a applesauce spice cake with caramel frosting filling. Pretty much to die for. The top is a chocolate wacky cake with sourcream frosting and vanilla buttercream filling. Oh and marshmallow fondant of course! It tastes delicious!

(can you tell I'm tired in this picture?)

Mistakes: I didn't ice my top layer very smoothly and you can definitely tell! Also the fondant is a little thin in some places. The top layer is tilted a little bit...

P.S. I have a ton more of these roses. Should I have used more? Less? What do you think the cake needs?

P.P.S. I know I should probably wait until morning to take pictures of my cakes but I can't wait that long. But the lighting would be better. Oh well.

A new belt

So my friend showed me this super cute belt on Etsy that was listed for $35. She wanted one but didn't want to pay $35...so I figured out how to make one! I bought the wrong kind of satin so it was really hard to singe the edges without getting a blackened look. So instead of using a candle or lighter I used my old heat embosser from WAY back when I was into stamps. (Like 7th grade) It was pretty annoying but it worked. This would make a super cute head band too don't you think?
